CMAC Boy's Basketball Game of the Week! (2/10/2017)

02/08/2017

As we near the end of the 2016-2017 basketball season, the CMAC has played great, competitive basketball to this point. Look for that trend to continue this Friday as Woodward takes on Western Hills in this week's CMAC Game of the Week!

Woodward (13-7, 4-4) has battled through a tough schedule to get to where they are now. Will Coker (SR) has been a huge part of the Bulldogs success on the court this year. The CMAC football star averages over 17 points per game and plays tough perimeter defense that makes it tough for opposing guards to make an impact on the game. If you do get past Coker, Terry Durham (JR) controls the paint averaging more than 8 boards, 2 steals, and a block per contest to compliment his 17 points per game. Completing the Bulldogs trio is Lonnie Berry (SR), who missed the first half of the season, but has played a dominant role in Woodward's offense since returning. Berry averages 19 points per game and has been an aggressive piece for Coach Paul McMillan's team.

Western Hills (5-14, 0-8) is still looking for their first CMAC win in Head Coach EJ Black's first season. With that being said, Coach Black has the culture and commitment moving upwards for the Mustangs as they look to finish this season on a positive note. The Mustangs are led by Tyrell Anderson (SR) who comes into the game averaging a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards per contest. Evan Walker (SR) is an important piece for the Mustangs as he averages 17.4 points per game, putting him in the CMAC top 5 for that statistic. Finally, freshman guard Jeremi Cauley is a magician on defense as he averages 3 steals per game. Coach Black is excited to have him for 3 more years and looks for Cauley to be an important part of the Mustangs moving forward.

Make sure you get to Western Hills High School for a 7:30 pm tip-off this Friday night! @CMAC_sports will be live tweeting and broadcasting the game live on Periscope!

UPDATE:

Western Hills seniors went out with a strong fight, but Woodward proved to be too much for the Mustangs as the Bulldogs played a strong second half and won the game 64-45. Click here to read about the CMAC Game of the Week in this week's 'Wrap Up Report'!
