Taft Gets Huge Win Against Dunbar

The Taft Senators took on the Dunbar Wolverines in the Game of the Week - a match-up which had serious playoff implications. At the end of the day, the Senators were able to pull out an impressive win by a score of 32-14, dominating for the most part throughout the game. Early projections look like Taft will jump up from sixth place to second place in their region with just two regular season games remaining.

Taft got off to a great start, scoring on a 32 yard strike from QB Cleveland Farmer down the seam to DeMarco Bradley Jr. The Senators quickly got the ball back, forcing a three-and-out in a little over a minute of game time as they clearly controlled the pace of the game.

After Dunbar fumbled the snap on the punt attempt, Taft recovered the ball around the Dunbar 30 yard line where they ultimately were stopped in their tracks.

The game would stay at 8-0 until the 4:38 mark in the second quarter, when Farmer found the end zone with a 1 yard keeper on third and goal to make the score 16-0!

After the TD, Dunbar stalled out quickly again, going three-and-out, this time with a failed fake punt. They would get the ball back quickly, but on the first play of the ensuing drive, a tip-drill interception would fall into the hands of Taft Senator Gianni Rudolph. After returning the pass to the 1 yard line, Cleveland Farmer bulldozed his way into the end zone yet again to take the score to 24-0 with just seconds left in the half.

Coming out of halftime, Dunbar seemed to have new life as they quickly found the zone on a 36 yard passing touchdown to the potential Alabama commit, Joseph Scattes.

On their next possession though, Dunbar would throw a costly interception that would seal the game for the Senators after a another Cleveland Farmer rushing touchdown.

Ultimately, Taft won the contest by a score of 32-18, and as previously mentioned, the win could go very far for the Senators who can potentially host at least one playoff game.

The Senators can't think too far ahead though, with a big game at Zanesville coming next week on Friday, October 20!
